What is a pronoun case?
- Personal pronouns have what is called case.
- The case means that a different form of a pronoun is used for different parts of the sentence.
- There are three cases:
-
- Nominative
- Objective
- Possessive
Nominative case pronouns
- They are used as subjects.
- They are I, you, she/ he, it, we, they, and who.
Let’s Practice!
- Najat is a teacher.
⇓
She is a teacher.
The pronoun “she” is functioning as a replacement to the antecedent “Najat” which is the subject of the sentence in our example. (So, we call it nominative case pronoun.)
- Kittens are cute!
⇓
They are cute!
- The weather is hot.
⇓
It is hot.
- Who is your teacher?
⇓
Najat is my teacher.
