What is a pronoun case?

  • Personal pronouns have what is called case.
  •  The case means that a different form of a pronoun is used for different parts of the sentence.
  • There are three cases:
    1. Nominative
    2. Objective
    3. Possessive

Nominative case pronouns

  •  They are used as subjects.
  • They are I, you, she/ he, it, we, they, and who.

Let’s Practice!

  • Najat is a teacher.

     She is a teacher.

The pronoun “she” is functioning as a replacement to the antecedent “Najat” which is the subject of the sentence in our example. (So, we call it nominative case pronoun.)

  •  Kittens are cute!

       ⇓

     They are cute!

  • The weather is hot.

       ⇓

      It is hot.

  • Who is your teacher?

       ⇓

     Najat is my teacher.
